Senator Hontiveros Defends Leni Robredo Against President Rodrigo Duterte
The Filipino people are not surprised why Senator Hontiveros is defending Vice President Leni Robredo against the video she sent to the United Nations that embarrassed the Philippine president.
Hontiveros defended Robredo from the recent video she released to the UN. She believes that UN should know the allegations of extrajudicial killings in the country. She said, “the world needs to know what is happening in our country. They need to know that the government’s abusive and corrupt war on drugs has victimized our people and is tearing our society apart at the seams.”
In a blog post of Mr. Alon Calinao Dy, a blogger and supporter of Duterte administration, he said that ” the accusations of extrajudicial killings were made and delivered to the UN because the opposition seemed to fulfill their long-time plan B. It seems the plan B is to impeach President Duterte through the help of other countries and put Leni Robredo as a new president.”
This is a clear meassage of Filipino people that a majority of them have the support for the administration. It seems Robredo twisted the truth. Instead of telling the United Nations that many Filipinos wanted to eliminate the country’s biggest problem of illegal drugs, she stated in the video that a lot of Filipinos are frustrated to President Duterte. Where is the truth and justice in this Robredo’s video?
In fact, according to some news, UN Human rights body has rejected the request of the opposition to intervene the drug-war in the Philippines when its members have found out the positive outcomes as it promotes and protects the rights of innocent people to be more secured against criminals who are under the influence of narcotics.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said, “Human rights body has done an investigation on the extrajudicial killings in the Philippines. I want to announce it here that the war against drugs in the Philippines under President Rodrigo Duterte is for the good of the people of the Philippines and it is indeed promoting patriotism and good governance.”
It seems to me that different plans and methods had already been done by Duterte’s critics to overthrow him in power, but they have failed several times. It seems to me that this Robredo’s video that was sent to UN was one of the plots to impeach Duterte. But as I said, the opposition could not do something about it since the true public clamor is to have a real change and end the country’s problems of illegal drugs criminality and corruption that existed for many decades.
