Trump, popondohan ang ‘war on drugs’ ni Duterte

Matapos ang pagdalo ni United States President Donald Trump sa ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings sa Pilipinas, sinabi ng White House na magbibigay ang Estados Unidos ng bilyon-binyong pisong halaga para suportahan ang mga programa ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kasama na ang war on drugs ng administrasyon.
Ayon sa statement ng White House ang pagbibigay ng $14.3 milyon o halos P750 milyon na tulong para sa rehabilitasyon ng Marawi City at ng mga residente na naapektuhan ng giyera.
Kabilang din sa ibubuhos na pondo ay ang $2 milyong dolyar bilang pagsuporta naman sa kampanya ng pamahalaan kontra iligal na droga.

“President Trump announced an additional $14.3 million for the community of Marawi City to address the humanitarian needs of 360,000 displaced persons, and to support stabilization and speedy recovery in Marawi by jumpstarting livelihoods and promoting alternatives to violent extremism.  The two leaders noted that the United States has provided approximately $65 million to enhance the Philippines’ maritime security capabilities.”

“President Trump announced $2 million to support drug demand reduction programs in the Philippines,” bahagi ng statement ng White House.

Sinasabi pa ng Amerika na nagbigay na rin daw sila ng mahigit sa $85 million na tulong pagdating sa  counterterrorism-related equipment, training, at suporta sa Armed Forces of the Philippines.


Bago umalis ng Pilipinas si Trump kung saan hindi na siya nakadalo sa East Asia Summit, nagpaabot ito ng pagbati sa mga ASEAN leaders.

I’m here to advance peace, to promote security, and to work with you to achieve a truly free and open Indo-Pacific region, where we are proud and we have sovereign nations and we thrive—and everybody wants to prosper,” ani Trump.
