Sotto exposé casts doubt on election of Duterte, other elected execs —Robredo

Senator Vicente Sotto III’s disclosure of alleged fraud in the 2016 elections casts doubt on the victories of all those who won—from President Rodrigo Duterte to the councilor in the smallest municipality—Vice President Leni Robredo said on Friday.

In a news conference in  Iloilo City, Robredo pushed for the immediate investigation of the alleged fraud that had a number of counting machines allegedly transmitting results the day before the elections on May 9, 2016.

“Ang apektado dito iyong buong electoral process—mula kay Pangulo hanggang sa pinakamaliit na councilor sa pinakamaliit na munisipyo,” Robredo said.

“Kapag kinuwestiyon mo iyong integridad ng 2016 elections, kinukuwestiyon mo iyong pagkapanalo ng lahat na pinagbotohan noong 2016,” she added.

Advertisement Robredo said the allegations contained in Sotto’s privilege speech were serious.

“Tayo, sa lalong madaling panahon, dapat sana maimbestigahan ito, kasi hindi naman ako iyong apektado dito,” Robredo said.

As regards the implications of Sotto’s privilege speech on the electoral protest former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. filed against her, Robredo said, “Parang iba yata, iba iyong grounds.”

“Iyong kay Senator Bongbong iba iyong sinasabi niya, itong kay Senator Sotto bago,” Robredo said.
