Pangulong Duterte Galit at Nag iwan ng matinding mensahe kay Mabilog “Papatayin ko talaga siya!”

In a recent interview, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to kill former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog who recently went out of the country for fear for his life and his family’s.

The president has tagged Mabilog as a “narco-politician” allegedly protecting the drug lords and preserving the drug trade in the cities. This was denied by Mabilog.

“‘Yung isa hindi na umuwi, si Magtibay (sic), I have been looking for him. Hindi na siya umuwi kasi papatayin ko talaga siya,” said Duterte.

“Sabihin nila, bakit si Duterte pinapatay lang niya ‘yung, mahihirap?. You are wrong. Hindi ko pinapatay ang mahihirap. Ang pinapatay kong mahihirap ‘yung kriminal,” he said.

“Remember that shabu is a commodity for the poor. Kaya karamihan ang namatay diyan talagang mahihirap,” he said.

“Eh bakit ‘yung mga mayaman hindi? Meron rin. Meron din mga mayors namatay. As a matter of fact, dalawa na,” he added, referring to slain Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa.

In his Iloilo visit last Feb. 22, Duterte said “all intelligence reports” he received linked Mabilog to Illegal drugs.

“Sinasabi ko na target kita kasi lahat ng impormasyon na pumapasok sa akin mula sa Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Air Force and the Philippine National Police nandoon ang panagalan niya,” he told reporters after his visit to the wake of slain household worker Joanna Demafelis in Sara, Iloilo.

Mabilog left the country in September 2017 and has not come back since.

Under the Duterte administration, there have been several politicians tagged by him as “narco-politicians” that have been killed in alleged legitimate police operations.

The International Criminal Court have launched investigations towards the president and other government officials under his administration over the killings.

However, the president and his allies have rejected the jurisdiction of the ICC and even downplayed its preliminary examination.

The president through his spokesman Harry Roque said that the ICC investigation will not go beyond the preliminary examination phase.

In addition to this, the administration has repeatedly denied involvement in the extrajudicial killing of more the 4,000 drug suspects.
