PAL vows to cooperate with Duterte government in settling P7.28 billion debt
President Rodrigo Duterte in his speech at the Philippine Constitution Association mentioned that he refused Lucio Tan proposal to help him in the presidential campaign and telling Tan to pay his unpaid debts with the Manila International Airport terminal 2.
President Duterte already warned PAL to settle its arrears in 10 days or risk the closure of its airport terminal.
Thursday, 28th of September 2017, the management of Philippine Airlines (PAL) said that they are already cooperating in resolving their P7.2billion unpaid navigational fees and other charges with the government and trying to examine those “complex legal issues” involved in the charges with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
“I said ‘you solve the problem yourself. I will give you 10 days,’” Duterte said in a speech. “‘If you don’t pay, I will destroy that and there will be no more airport.’”
Letters were sent to the Philippine Airlines August of 2016 that demands for the full payment of all unpaid charges by the Department of Transportation, where PAL suggested for possible seven year payment scheme that was denied thus sending a final demand of full payment letter was sent to the airline for legal action according to the department of transportation.
As response the airline said, “PAL has fully cooperated and will continue to cooperate with any and all agencies to resolve this concern,”
