Known Broadcast Journalist Korina Sanchez is among those who are upset by President Duterte’s recent brisk decision in withdrawing membership from the Treaty of Rome Statute.

Sanchez believed that the President ‘has made several statements that he took back or did not make good of’.

Ngayon ito,” Sanchez said.

In her editorial for Pilipino Star Ngayon dated March 20, the known newspaper columnist pondered a question on President Duterte’s next move after having to restrict ICC membership.

Married to an opposition member and former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, Korina Sanchez does not need to thread her way carefully to judge the President’s decisiveness citing the withdrawal from ICC as one example, which came weeks after the International Tribunal announced its initiative to conduct a preliminary investigation on the President’s involvement with the alleged extrajudicial killings.

Meanwhile, President Duterte stressed that there is a clear violation of due process that prompted him to make such decision.

Korina Sanchez, however, insists that the current administration has ‘nothing to fear’ if the War on Drugs is done with proper mandates of the law.

An excerpt of her post March 20 post reads: “Kung ang laging sinasabi ng administrasyong ito na kung may nakikitang paglabag sa batas, korapsyon o katiwalian ay magsampa ng kaso, ano pala ang takot nila sa kasong isasampa ng ICC, kung meron man, kung inosente sila sa mga akusasyon?”
