Solgen Calida Binanatan ang mga LP sa naging komento nila kay Napoles “Are you afraid Napoles will unmask your hypocrisy?!”
Liberal Party (LP) President Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan received the brunt of Solicitor General Jose Calida’s lashes after the former criticized the plans to make Janet Napoles a state witness to the Php 10 billion pork barrel scam during the Aquino administration.
“Are you afraid Napoles will unmask the supercilious hypocrisy of the unlamented “Daang Matuwid” regime?” Calida said.
The LP and Aquino administration has recently received allegations and criticisms that the pork barrel scam cases they handled only “selectively” meted out justice, keeping their cohorts and colleagues safe during the proceedings.
The people indicted for graft, plunder and fund malversation were key figures of the LP’s opposition which were former Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada, and Bong Revilla.
Other former House of Representatives members, heads of agencies, and key legislative staff were also charged with the same cases during the revelation of the pork barrel scam.
“Why do you keep on sticking your nose in this judicial process?” Calida questioned.
With Napoles’ acquittal, she has promised to name other top government figures involved in the pork barrel scam.
Calida called out Pangilinan reminding him who is directly involved in handling Napoles’ case.
“Who are involved in the process of making an accused a state witness? The prosecutor and the court,” Calida said.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said that they have discussed the possibility of Napoles being a state witness and a new investigation into the pork barrel case will commence soon.
Aguirre promised there would be now “selective justice” in the new investigation.
