President Duterte donates P100 million for the less fortunate patients of PGH

After President Rodrigo Duterte set aside a budget of P2 billion for free medicine assistance to the public, which came from the income of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp, the President once again showed his love and concern for the poor after Dr. Gerardo Legaspi, Director of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), received a surprise call from Christopher Bong Go, Special Assistant to the President, delivering the good news from President Duterte about his interest in helping the patients of the state-owned hospital by alocating a monthly budget worth ₱100 million that would definitely help save lives.
“The amount will be allocated for the underprivileged patients of the hospital who cannot afford medical procedures and treatments,” read a statement from the Radio-Television Malacañang that released a video preview of the meeting.

Duterte refused to disclose the name of the program because it did not come from him and it is reserved only for those patients who can’t afford to pay their hospital bills.

The check was handed over to Dr. Legaspi during their meeting in Malacañang that was attended by Dr. Ireneo Quiron of PGH Fiscal Services, Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration Rizalina Justol, and Special Assistant to the President Christopher Bong Go.
